Audi factory driverMike Rockenfeller (D)

As a child Mike Rockenfeller wanted to be a farmer or work in his parent’s workshop. Even today he still enjoys sitting on a tractor or combine harvester and driving through the fields when he visits his family. That he restored a historical Lanz-Bulldog – an icon of German industrial history – with his father demonstrates his bond to unusual variations of the subject “four wheels”.

The contrast with the glamorous world of motorsport could hardly be bigger, however “Rocky” is still down-to-earth in spite of his success. That he became a factory
Porsche driver at 18, went down in the history books at 19 as the youngest driver to win a Porsche Supercup race supporting a Formula 1 race, and at 20 became the youngest driver ever to become Carrera-Cup-Champion, has not seen him with his head in the clouds.
Mike Rockenfeller could have made a career at Porsche; however, he elected to go with Audi. “Everything that Audi Sport has approached in motorsport was successful”, knows the youngster.

Mike Rockenfeller experienced just how tough things are in the DTM during his debut season. A remarkable third place at Oschersleben in only his second DTM race was followed by a long, hard haul which shows that nothing can be taken for granted in the DTM.
